On behalf of the Office of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) & Insurance, I would like to welcome you to the University. Our office supports the Columbia campus, satellite campuses and other University associated entities. We are here to assist you in identifying, assessing, and controlling risks associated with your University related activities. We can also assist you in purchasing proper insurance coverage, filing insurance claims, providing certificates of insurance, and negotiating/understanding contractual insurance requirements. Brian Hann, Director
Brian Hann is the University’s Director of Enterprise Risk Management & Insurance and has been involved with various aspects of risk management and loss control for over 25 years. Brian has completed coursework and certification as a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), a designation obtained by only a small percentage of executives and recognized as one of the premier designations throughout the risk management and property-casualty insurance business.
Brian is also credentialed as an Associate in Risk Management – Enterprise Risk Management (ARM-E), an Associate in Risk Management – Public Entities (ARM-P), a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), and a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH). These designations ensure competency in the application of the risk management process and aid in the understanding of approaches to manage key business risks and opportunities. Email Brian.
Skip Caughman, Insurance Services Coordinator
Skip assists the Director of Enterprise Risk Management and Insurance by managing the day-to-day operations of the University’s insurance program. His primary responsibilities include claims management and the procurement/maintenance of both state-mandated and other required insurance policies. His position allows him to collaborate with a diverse group of University contacts and outside representatives.
Skip has obtained the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) certification, a credential recognized as one of the premier designations for risk management professionals. A 2003 graduate of the University, he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration while majoring in insurance and risk management, marketing and management. Prior to returning to the University, he spent over eight years with the South Carolina Insurance Reserve Fund (IRF). During his time at the IRF, he was assigned as the field agent for USC’s account.
